The aircraft mechanic Ali YILDIZ built a glider in 1928 at Bursa and carried out some flights thereby. Later he
joined the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK). There he operated for a very long time as a flight instructor and test pilot. On 14.06.1938 he broke the world gliding duration record with a two-seat Kranich sailplane. With his student Sezai GÖKSU he remained 14 hours and 20 minutes in the air. The sailplane landed late at night around 23.20 local time on the gliding field at Eskisehir. |
